I am an artist and maker.
I find it so satisfying to sit down with raw materials—yarn, fabric, dye, paper—and to combine them to make beautiful things. Ralph Waldo Emerson said that “Every artist was first an amateur,” and I think that it is possible for anyone to learn a craft if the desire to create in that medium exists. This past summer I learned to dye with indigo and do shibori and boro stitching, and have already incorporated those techniques into some of my quilts.
My other favorite activities are writing (I have three projects in the works), reading (see my Goodreads lists), and, when I truly need to recharge, organizing. I find putting things in order to be supremely satisfying--it gives me the clear head space I need in order to create. My fabric and yarn stashes are things of beauty.
Please get in touch if you would like to see any of my creations, if you need a quilt appraised, or if you would like me to bring some exuberant order into your life.
